I never thought I would own a restaurant or a catering company, especially since I tried to stay away from my fathers company most of my life but during one summer in college I realized I had a fond admiration for events. I sold a couple of events that summer and eventually I immersed myself, learning the ins and outs of the industry and quickly began trying to network and manage select clients. Eventually I began to work with all types of people in Hollywood’s nightlife, catering all types of events at any given notice, and my willingness to work long nights and early mornings catapulted me to reach minor success. This was my breakthrough and thus one client became two and so on and so forth. Although I don’t have the fancy degrees and celebrity chef reputation I let our work speak for ourselves. I know were capable of creating amazing food and even more amazing memories.

After a while I transitioned to sales, I managed clients and orchestrated events across Los Angeles regularly. However the allure of traveling and taking on a new experience was calling for me, the idea of stepping away from the family business seemed like it was well over due. At 25 I moved to Austin, TX, working in door-to-door sales for BRINKS and Skyline Security. Over two years, I sold 300+ accounts and recruited and led a team to over 1,000 accounts, refining my sales and managing skills and connecting with people nationwide.

Feeling enriched and invigorated, I turned a new chapter by returning to Los Angeles. Together with my father, we founded ENJOY, a venture born from a shared passion for creating exceptional experiences and serving authentic dishes made from our culture and recipes we have grown to love over the years. Today, I am proud to lead a company built on resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to stay creative and enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and out of the kitchen.

From modest beginnings in the small town of Guadalupe, Guanajuato, Mexico, Chef Leonel emerged into a life shaped by resilience and ambition. Born into a family of nine, where sustenance came from their own farmland and cattle, he learned the value of hard work and determination early on. In pursuit of a brighter future, Chef Leonel, driven by his unwavering passion, secured an academic scholarship to attend university.

However, the call for a new opportunity beckoned, leading him to embark on a journey to the United States. Starting with work in the fields, then progressing through various restaurant roles, Chef Leonel's path ultimately led him to the dynamic world of catering. It was from this culmination of experiences that Food Joy Catering was born.

Transitioning to the role of a private chef marked a pivotal moment in Chef Leonel's career. His culinary prowess caught the attention of LA's elite, earning him the esteemed position of private chef for many prominent figures. Leonel thrives on curating top-tier events, finding honor in preparing delectable dishes for a diverse array of occasions, from high-profile corporate gatherings, including Heads of State and Hollywood moguls, to intimate family celebrations. Chef Leonel's journey, rooted in humble beginnings, has blossomed into a culinary adventure now taking the path to build an even greater company with his son, ENJOY was born.
